I am the librarian at Detroit Country Day Lower School in Bloomfield Hills, MI. I have worked as a librarian for the past eleven years. I was a classroom teacher for four years prior to that. I have worked in charter, public, and private schools. My favorite thing about being a librarian is the opportunities I have to work both with students and teachers. I love the co-teaching opportunities and connections I have been able to make! I have served on AASL committees as a member and chair. I am currently serving as the secretary of MAME.

In my role as Regional Account Manager, I finds it exciting and satisfying to work with both the K-12 and public libraries in a community. Kathy Lester is the Immediate Past President of the American Association for School Librarians (AASL), adjunct faculty at Wayne State University and a former school librarian at East Middle School in Plymouth Canton Community Schools in Michigan.  She is also a Councilor-At-Large for the American Library Association (ALA) and serves on the ALA Committee on Legislation (COL). She is a Past-President of the Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL) and is a co-chair of the MASL Advocacy Committee.

Melinda Waffle, who has a masters in Educational Technology, taught high school before moving
into a district technology coordinator role which was solely responsible for helping teachers rethink
their classroom and curriculum through technology use. After that she moved on to providing
similar training and coaching for an entire county, and being a part of state workgroups for OER,

I have been in my current position as the Michigan eLibrary (MeL) Coordinator for one year now and am eager to connect with others who are selecting and managing eResources for libraries of all types.  The Library of Michigan provides over 80 eResources for all residents of Michigan through the MeL program.  We support K-12, college and university and public library staff through customized training and eResource management.  Before joining the Library of Michigan, I was a public library director.  My biggest passion then and now is digital inclusion and literacy.
